Who *SHOULDN'T* Get a Piercing?
Kelsey Schwartz·June 26, 2026
Do we want to pierce everyone who walks into our studio? Yes!
Would it be ethical to do so? No.
Turning clients away is unfortunately part of the job description, and if we do so it's for your health and safety. We've compiled this list of scenarios to help you determine if this is the best time for you to add to your piercing collection.
Clients we will NOT Pierce
- Pregnant clients
- If you are on Accutane (isotretinoin) or have been off of it less than 12 months
- You will be swimming / traveling and can't avoid submerging your piercing for the next 6 weeks minimum
Case by Case / Proceed With Caution / Probably Best to Wait
- Less than a year post-partum or breastfeeding
- Repiercing repaired tissue under a year post-op
- Recovering from a major injury or surgery
- Upcoming sporting / work even where you will have to remove jewelry
- Having an active autoimmune issue / flair up
- Already healing 4+ piercings
This is not an exhaustive list of all possible scenarios. Please reach out to your piercer if you have any questions.
